The Atlantic Dash Sponsors
Sponsor | SIMRAD
SIMRAD are another company we have partnered with on past projects and their enthusiasm to make the world a better place for others is infectious. SIMRAD produces a whole range of high performance marine electronics that keep boats safe, lets them know where they are and where they need to go and in communication with other vessels.
They also have the strapline “Adventure begins with SIMRAD”. How could we not partner with them?
The Atlantic Dash Partners
Official Timekeeper | Elliot Brown
Official timekeeper for the Atlantic Dash, Elliot Brown has partnered with Billy, co-founder of the Dash, since way back in 2013. Their passion and support for the adventure community is unrivalled and well known within the world of ocean rowing.
Long term friends Ian Elliot and Alex Brown share many years of totally unique watch making skills from the world of extreme sport and it’s this knowledge that forms the bedrock behind their extraordinarily capable watches.
Elliot Brown will also be donating watches to the crew members from the team that raises the most money for charity and the team who win the “Spirit of the Dash”.
Launch Marina | Marina Rubicón
Situated on the South Coast of Lanzarote, Marina Rubicón had already been the departure point for 3 Atlantic crossings by the Monkey Fist Adventures crew before the Atlantic Dash was born.
The Marina is located in the tourist destination of Playa Blanca; easy to travel to with a wide range of options for accommodation and plenty of places to eat and drink.
Rubicon is a popular departure point for many yachts crossing the Atlantic and because of this has a great infrastructure with a well equipped boatyard and well stocked chandlery. This means that any last minute repair or replacement of kit can be easily dealt with.
Arrival Marina | Jolly Harbour Marina & Boatyard
When you have just rowed 3,200 miles you want the place that you first step off the boat and onto land to be somewhere special. The people who work at Jolly Harbour and the residents who call it home are incredibly proud of the marina and they have every right to be so. It is a stunningly beautiful part of the world with arguably the best beach on the Island.
The reception that they throw for the boats when they arrive is phenomenal, giving the crews a memory that they will never forget.
Communications | MailASail Satellite Communications
Ed Wildgoose, along with Sue and Helle, are well known in the ocean rowing community and have provided support and equipment to many ocean rowing crews.
Ed’s encyclopedic knowledge of all things satellite communications is second to none and he is always happy to pick up the phone and discuss what kit and services will best suit a crew's needs.
Medic | TWG Medics
TWG International was established in January 2021 after over a decade working for other companies and seeing their shortfalls in customer service and patient care. The company prides itself on putting patients' health and safety above profits and politics.
They will be supporting crews before the event by putting together a robust first aid kit for the different teams, tailored to the specific needs of the personnel onboard. Prior to departure TWG will deliver a 1 day seminar on how to use the first aid kit, a basic first aid course and emergency treatment tailored to the environment that the rowers will be entering into. During the event they will have one of our medical teams available 24/7 via phone, email, and video call to answer any health related queries and assist with all medical emergencies should they arise.
Hygiene | Jackson Reece UK, Kinder By Nature
Wet wipes are an important part of hygiene care for ocean rowers. Having plastic free oceans is something ocean rowers care about. About 90% of wet wipes contain microplastics that never break down or biodegrade.
Jackson Reece produces “Kinder by Nature” baby wipes. Made from wood pulp and water, they don’t contain any chemicals or plastic. They are compostable, decomposing in about the same amount of time that it takes for most crews to row the Atlantic.
However, we advise against rowers throwing anything into the ocean and request it is stored on board for safe disposal on arrival in Antigua.
Nutrition | Adventure Nutrition
When you are rowing 12 hours a day you need some fuel to feed the furnace.
For the last 5 years and 4 ocean crossings we have partnered with Adventure Nutrition and we see no reason to stop now!
They have the largest range of lightweight freeze dried meals in the UK and are packed with macro and micro nutrients to keep your fuel tank full and your body in good health.
Arrival Party | Sheer Rocks
All rowers look forward to fresh food once they step ashore and food is actually one of the most talked about topics on ocean rowing boats
Once they have said hello to all their families the first thing that the Dash does is give them an incredible meal provided by Sheer Rocks. Billy and Alex, co-founders of the Dash, met this amazing group of people in 2020 when they completed their first Atlantic crossing and can vouch for just how delicious that food is!
Boatyard | Avon Marina
The guys and girls at Avon Marina are incredible to work with and were the people behind building Velocity, the first boat to finish first in the first ever Dash.
Having moved on from the construction of ocean rowing boats they now focus on fitting out and maintaining new and existing boats instead. They deal with hydraulic steering systems, marine electronics, fibreglass work, rigging work and anything else you can think of in an ocean rowing boat.
Power | Eco Tree Lithium
Rob and the chaps at Eco Tree are yet another company that have been intertwined with the Monkey Fist Adventures tree.
As battery technology advances the options for ocean rowing boats have increased, with most people now opting for lithium ion. We were introduced to lithium batteries by Rob and co when we met them at the Southampton boat show in 2019.
The guys at Eco Tree Lithium are passionate about offering people the correct battery solution for energy, innovation and quality. Sourcing only the best lithium cell that has been technically designed in Europe to provide the best in cell performance and longevity.
Hosting | Canary Yacht Brokers
Owner Ray Pattenden met Billy and Alex during the first Atlantic Dash and found the idea of anyone wanting to put to sea in a 29ft boat without sails or an engine quite disturbing. However, once he got over the initial shock he warmed to the pair and kindly offered office space to the Dash for training seminars and an HQ in Marina Rubicon.
Although he insists that he would never row an ocean, Billy is working on it and time will tell…
